Virlenia Morrow and James Henry Myers.

Virlenia Morrow was born April 22, 1848 in Buffalo, MO. On May 21, 1865 in Buffalo, MO, she married James Henry Myers. Her brother Benjamine
Franklin Morrow
and James’ sister Temperance Myers acted as witnesses. In 1871 James Henry and Virlenia traveled from Missouri to Coryell County,
TX and then eventually to Hamilton County, settling in the Evant Community.
James Henry Myers was the brother of Temperance Myers. He was born November 7, 1844 in Stoddard County, MO to Peter Myers and Temperance
Babb. In the 1860 US census, Dallas Co., MO he is listed as 18 years old, living with his parents and five other children. In the 1870 census he is listed in
Dallas County with Virlenia; in 1870 he is listed in Hamilton Co., TX; in 1900 he is listed in Coryell Co., TX and back in Hamilton County in 1910. He served
as a Minister of the Church of Christ in the Coryell, Bosque, and Hamilton Co. communities.

On August 23, 1864 he enlisted as a Private in Co. C, 46th Reg’t of the Missouri Infantry. This regiment was formed mainly to be a Home Guard against
Confederate guerrillas operating in the area. On March 7, 1865, almost a month before Appomattox, he was mustered out of service. He contracted
pneumonia and it would forever affect his health. On January 19, 1916 James Henry died. That same year Benjamine and Temperance again served as
witness for Virlenia to her rights to a Widow’s pension.

On April 26, 1922, Virlenia passed away in Hamilton, TX. The following is part of her obituary:

The beautiful earth life of Mrs. Virlenia Myers ended last Wednesday night, April 26, at 10 o’clock. She had been ill of influenza for several weeks, but it
had been thought that with careful nursing and the skilled services of physicians she would recover, but human powers failed in the fight against the
insidious disease, and her pure spirit went back to the God who gave it to bless the world who knew her.....Mrs. Myers has made numerous friends here
and her death is mourned by our entire citizenship. She was truly a gentlewoman, always pleasant and her association with neighbors and friends was
characteristically courteous and amiable. She was a woman one naturally placed in the holy company of mothers of the earth.
